Mahavir Shree International Pvt. Ltd. carried out the supply, delivery, installation, and testing of an Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) system at Chandragadhi (Bhadrapur, Jhapa district) and Janakpur (Dhanusha district) Airports for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, under project MSI-PRJ-74-151. The 11-month project converted both airports from day-only operation to 24-hour capability; both had previously been closed during winter months due to poor visibility.
Scope & Deliverables
- Supply and installation of ADB Safegate airfield ground lighting equipment.
- Runway lighting, runway threshold lighting, and runway end lighting systems.
- Taxiway lighting systems.
- Airfield lighting control and monitoring systems, compliant with ICAO standards.
- Installation work scheduled during no-flight periods and confined to areas outside the airside when operations were active, at both airports across the Jhapa and Dhanusha terai terrain.
Outcome
The AGL systems at Chandragadhi and Janakpur Airports were installed, tested, and handed over to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, with completion recorded on 10 June 2019. Both airports now support night flight operations in addition to daytime service.
