Baggage Handling System & Related Works at Gautam Buddha International Airport

Overview

Mahavir Shree International Pvt. Ltd. carried out the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) Upgrading Component at GBIA, Rupandehi, Bhairahawa, Nepal, for client Northwest Civil Aviation Airport Construction Group Co., Ltd, under reference MSI-PRJ-75-0358A. The project ran for a duration of 2 years and 7 months and was completed on 5 June 2022. Work covered the supply, installation, and commissioning of a Baggage Handling System (BHS), a Materials Supply Contract for Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), GRP poles for PALS-28 and SALS-10, CCR/ASO equipment, Airport Lighting Control and Monitoring System (ALCMS) equipment, flood lighting control panels, wayfinding signage at the International Terminal Building, and terminal elevators/lifts, together with a supplement agreement for AGL and related accessories.

Scope & Deliverables

• International Departure BHS: Check-in & Dispatch/Induction Conveyors; Scale/Weighing Conveyor with Operator Panel at the departure counter; Collector Conveyor; Metering/Queue Conveyor; Merge Conveyor; horizontal/vertical Diverters; Security/Screening Conveyors; Baggage Make-up Carousel (Flat Slat Carousel); Slope/Incline Carousel; interfacing with the X-Ray Baggage Scanner; PLC-based Control Panel with VFD; Bag Jam/Collision Detection using Proximity Photo Eyes (PE) and Fixed Windowing; PLC-based Shutter Door installation.
• International Arrival BHS: 2 sets of Reclaim Carousels; PLC-based Control Panel with Operator Panel; PLC-based Shutter Door installation.
• Materials Supply Contract for Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), including a supplement agreement for AGL and related accessories.
• Supply of GRP poles for PALS-28 and SALS-10 with all required accessories.
• Procurement and installation of CCR/ASO equipment.
• Procurement and installation of equipment for the Airport Lighting Control and Monitoring System (ALCMS) and Control Panel of the Flood Lighting System.
• Wayfinding Signage Works at the International Terminal Building.
• Elevators/lift installation at the International Terminal Building.

Outcome

The Baggage Handling System, covering both international departure and arrival baggage flows, was installed and commissioned together with the AGL materials supply, GRP poles, CCR/ASO equipment, ALCMS and flood lighting control panel equipment, wayfinding signage, and terminal elevators at GBIA. The works were completed and handed over to Northwest Civil Aviation Airport Construction Group Co., Ltd on 5 June 2022, following a project duration of 2 years and 7 months.
