Airport Security Checkpoint System Installation at Tribhuvan International Airport

Overview

The project covered the supply, delivery, installation, and testing of an airport security checkpoint system for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Sinamangal, Kathmandu. The work was carried out in line with National Civil Aviation Security regulations and ICAO Annex 17 guidelines. The project ran for approximately 8 months and was completed on 30 September 2024.

Scope & Deliverables

• Hand Baggage X-ray Machines (Dual View), supplied with operator consoles and baggage rollers.
• Hold Baggage X-ray Machines (Dual View), supplied with calibration tools, maintenance toolkits, and accessories.
• Walk-Through Metal Detectors (WTMDs) and Hand-Held Metal Detectors (HHMDs) for passenger screening.
• Supporting infrastructure, including UPS systems, modular tables, baggage trays, and maintenance tools.
• Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of the equipment prior to deployment.
• Specialized training for operators on system operation.

Outcome

The security checkpoint system, comprising the X-ray scanners, walk-through and hand-held metal detectors, and associated infrastructure, was installed, tested, and commissioned at Tribhuvan International Airport. Operators were trained on the system. The project was completed on 30 September 2024.
