Overview
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) contracted the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of security screening X-ray machines (hand and hold type) at multiple domestic airports in Nepal, under Contract No. CAAN/CNAD/ICB-01/079/80, project reference SF-80-2700. The project was completed on 2024-05-29, with a project duration of 7 months and 12 days.
The scope covered supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of both Hand Baggage and Hold Baggage X-Ray Machines, along with supporting equipment, maintenance tools, and operator training.
Scope & Deliverables
- Dual View Hold Baggage X-Ray Machines with monitoring systems, control desks, and calibration kits.
- Dual View Hand Baggage X-Ray Machines with software, monitors, and trays for laptops, purses, and shoes.
- UPS systems and battery banks for uninterrupted operations.
- Baggage sliders/roller tables for baggage handling at entry and exit points.
- Calibration tools, test cases, and X-ray dose meters.
- Transportation of equipment to destination airports and installation materials.
- Training covering Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), local operation, and maintenance for airport staff.
Outcome
The X-ray screening systems were installed and commissioned across the contracted domestic airports for CAAN. Operator training, including FAT, local operation, and maintenance instruction, was delivered to airport staff. The airports now operate dual view hand and hold baggage X-ray screening equipment with associated UPS backup, baggage handling, and calibration tools in place.
