Mahavir Shree International Pvt. Ltd. supplied Megger testing equipment for transmission line fault detection and substation commissioning, for client RS Infraprojects Pvt. Ltd. at Duhabi (reference R3118). The equipment supported testing, verification, and maintenance of high-voltage transmission and substation assets used by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) field teams, with testing carried out to NEA and IEC guidelines. The project was completed on 15 April 2026, with a duration of 3 months 6 days.
Scope & Deliverables
- MEGGER TRAX multifunction transformer test system, used for winding resistance, turns ratio, impedance, and demagnetization testing of transformers and substation equipment.
- MEGGER DELTA 4000 insulation diagnostic system, used for power factor (tan delta) testing of transformers and cables and evaluation of insulation health and aging condition.
- MEGGER SMRT410 relay test set, used for testing, calibration, and verification of protection relays covering overcurrent, distance, differential, and earth fault protection schemes.
- MEGGER OHLF (TDR-based fault locator), used for identifying and locating transmission line faults, including open-circuit, short-circuit, and insulation faults.
- Technical presentations, operational training, and hands-on demonstrations on equipment operation and testing procedures at NEA field sites.
Outcome
The MEGGER TRAX, DELTA 4000, SMRT410, and OHLF systems were supplied and demonstrated for use by NEA technical teams across multiple field sites. On-site training and hands-on demonstrations were delivered covering transformer condition assessment, insulation diagnostics, protection relay testing, and transmission line fault location, with testing procedures aligned to NEA and IEC guidelines. Field engineers were given practical instruction in equipment operation, supporting condition assessment of transformers, CTs, VTs, and transmission lines, and the testing and commissioning of protection and control systems.
