Mahavir Shree International Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with ADB SAFEGATE Austria, carried out the procurement, installation, training, and commissioning of an Electronic Flight Strip (EFS) system at Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in Siddharthanagar, Lumbini Province, Nepal. The project was commissioned by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) under the National Pride Project initiative. The EFS system was intended to replace or supplement conventional paper-based flight strip operations with a digital platform for air traffic management. Work ran from 23 February 2023 to 30 April 2024, a duration of 1 year 2 months.
Scope & Deliverables
- Procurement and installation of the Electronic Flight Strip (EFS) system for air traffic management at GBIA, in place of paper-based flight strip operations
- Installation of EFS Control Working Position (CWP) displays for use by air traffic control officers
- Installation of EFS server racks
- Training of air traffic control officers on operating the EFS interface
- Procurement conducted with participation open to qualified international and domestic bidders, with system compatibility maintained with existing airport and air traffic infrastructure
Outcome
The EFS system was commissioned and handed over to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. Training on the EFS Control Working Position interface was delivered to air traffic control officers, concluding with a certificate distribution ceremony. Air traffic control at GBIA now operates the Electronic Flight Strip system as its flight data handling platform.
