Enhancing Aviation Infrastructure in Nepal: Mahavir Shree International’s Contribution to Gautam Buddha International Airport
Mahavir Shree International Pvt. Ltd. (MSIPL) is proud to have played a pivotal role in the successful completion of the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) Upgrading Component ICB-01 Project, located in Bhairahawa, Rupandehi, Nepal. This strategic infrastructure initiative, led by the Gautam Buddha International Airport and executed by Northwest Civil Aviation Airport Construction Group Ltd. (China), aimed to modernize and expand both airside and landside facilities at GBIA.
The project commenced in November 2019 and reached full completion in January 2022, marking a significant milestone in Nepal’s aviation development

Key Works Completed Under the GBIA Upgrading Project
The broader project encompassed a wide range of infrastructure enhancements, including:
• Installation of the Baggage Handling System (BHS) for international terminals
• Procurement and supply of Aeronautical Ground Lights (AGL)
• Supply of Weber rubber materials
• Delivery of GRP poles for PALS-28 and SALS-10, along with necessary accessories
• Installation of CCR/ASO equipment
• Implementation of wayfinding signage for the International Terminal Building
• Completion of Phase I and II of the AGL system
• Installation of Airport Lighting Control and Monitoring System (ALCMS) and floodlight control panels
• Execution of supplementary AGL agreements and accessories
• Construction of elevators within the terminal infrastructure
All components were finalized and commissioned by January 2022, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with international standards.

Mahavir Shree International Pvt. Ltd. delivered a comprehensive suite of services and equipment tailored to GBIA’s operational needs:
1. Baggage Handling System (BHS)
• Design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of:
• International Departure BHS conveyor equipment
• Rolling shutter security doors with draught curtains
• Flat overlapping slat-type make-up carousels with friction drive
• Control systems, steel supports, accessories, and protective guardrails
2. Arrival Reclaim Carousels
• Design and installation of flat overlapping slat-type reclaim carousels with friction drive and rolling shutters for the International Arrival area
3. Logistics and Support
• Supply of essential tools and spare parts
• Factory inspections to ensure quality assurance
• Employee training programs to support operational handover and long-term maintenance
Project Completion and Impact
The successful delivery of this project has significantly enhanced GBIA’s capacity to manage international air traffic, streamline passenger movement, and improve safety and visibility through advanced lighting systems.
