Overview
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Tribhuvan International Airport Civil Aviation Office, contracted the supply, delivery, and testing of an Aircraft Recovery Kit for the removal of disabled aircraft at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu (ref. SF-79-2518). The kit was supplied for the recovery of wide-body aircraft including the A330, A340, A350, B747, B777, and B787, with a towing capacity of up to 50 tons, in line with ICAO protocols for disabled aircraft removal. The project ran over a duration of 1 year 3 months, with completion recorded on 18 March 2024.

Outcome
The Aircraft Recovery Kit was supplied, delivered, and tested at Tribhuvan International Airport and handed over to CAAN, along with training and local technical training on its operation. The airport now holds the equipment and load-monitoring, fuselage-lifting, and towing capability needed to recover disabled wide-body aircraft up to 50 tons.
