Supply, Delivery, Installation & Testing of Aeronautical Ground Lighting and Airfield Lighting Control Systems at Surkhet Airport
Supply, installation, and testing of AGLS and ALCMS at Surkhet Airport, improving aviation safety, efficiency, and ICAO compliance.
Project Overview
Project Name: Supply, Delivery, Installation and Testing of Aeronautical Ground Lighting Systems (AGLS) and Airfield Light Control and Monitoring Systems (ALCMS) at Surkhet Airport
Project Ref.: SF-79-2662
The project involves the supply, delivery, installation, and testing of advanced Aeronautical Ground Lighting Systems (AGLS) and Airfield Light Control and Monitoring Systems (ALCMS) at Surkhet Airport. The works are executed in compliance with ICAO Annex-14 and Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) standards, under the technical supervision of the Electromechanical Department (EMD).
Key Deliverables:
✓ Supply and installation of runway edge, threshold, end, and turn pad LED lighting systems.
✓ Runway Threshold Identification Light (RTIL) system and obstruction lights for towers and masts.
✓ High mast apron flood lighting system with lightning protection and power distribution boards.
✓ AGL isolating transformers, primary/secondary cables, connector kits, and earthing systems.
✓ Control and monitoring infrastructure, including CCRs, AVR, UPS, PLC panel, and ALCMS desk.
✓ Civil works, including ducting, manhole construction, transformer chambers, and foundations.
✓ Training, documentation, pre-shipment tests, and system integration for seamless operations.
Impact:
The project significantly enhances the safety, reliability, and operational efficiency of Surkhet Airport. By introducing modern ICAO-compliant lighting and monitoring systems, the airport is better equipped for night operations, adverse weather conditions, and overall airfield management. This upgrade not only improves safety standards but also strengthens Surkhet Airport’s role in regional connectivity and aviation growth.
Conclusion:
Through this project, Surkhet Airport gains a modernized lighting and monitoring infrastructure aligned with international standards. The initiative highlights CAAN’s ongoing commitment to improving aviation safety, efficiency, and long-term sustainability across Nepal’s air transport sector.
