The Supply, Delivery & Testing of Test, Measuring and Communication Equipment

Overview

This project covered the supply, delivery, and testing of test and measuring instruments and HF/VHF communication equipment for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Communication & Nav Air Department, at Sinamangal, Kathmandu. It was procured under Package B, Contract No. CAAN-CNAD-ICB-01-072-73, Project Ref. MSI-PRJ-72-115, and comprised two linked contracts: the Supply, Delivery & Testing of Test & Measuring Equipment and Accessories, and the Supply, Delivery & Testing of Communication Equipment and Accessories. Work was completed within five months, from March to August 2016, with completion recorded on 4 August 2016.

Scope & Deliverables

• Test and measuring equipment and accessories: communication analyser with accessories; digital oscilloscope with probes and accessories; RF power meter with accessories.
• HF (SSB) transceiver with handheld microphone and accessories, including a spare handheld microphone.
• Desktop airband VHF transceiver with handheld microphone and accessories, including a headset microphone with PTT.
• Portable airband VHF transceiver with accessories, including an airband VHF cavity resonator filter with accessories.
• Testing and verification, including comprehensive testing of the desktop HF (SSB) transceiver and accessories.

Outcome

The test, measuring, and communication equipment was delivered and tested for CAAN's Communication & Nav Air Department. The department's capacity to manage and monitor communication systems was upgraded, supporting air traffic management and aviation operations in Nepal.
